Coastal walks near our East Prawle holiday cottages
The Coastal Path for walkers, takes you past local beaches, ideal for families and bathers
East Prawle, near Kingsbridge in Devon, is a tiny village built around a central green. There is an excellent pub (the Pig’s Nose) and the Piglet Stores, a small shop with an attached tea room (the Piglet cafe). The shop is now open all year round and you can get most things, from fresh bread, ham off the bone, farmhouse cheese, newspapers in the village. In the South Hams area of Devon there are a number of local pubs in picturesque destinations like South Pool where you and any children can eat well. In Dartmouth, Salcombe and Kingsbridge there are restaurants with menus ranging from top cordon bleu to fish and chips.
The beautiful church at Chivelstone nearby
The local parish church, built originally as a ‘Chapel of Ease’ for remote hamlets. It has a beautiful old rood screen and is currently the subject of a renovation campaign. It makes a lovely expedition from one of our holiday rentals on cooler days. See www.eastprawlehistorysociety.co.uk
